Essential oils are versatile and can enrich your home life in a variety of ways. While you’re reading about all of the benefits they have to offer, I bet you’ll be surprised by the number of ways you can use them in your home.

Today, I plan to discuss the top 10 must-have essential oils for your home in the hopes that you’ll be inspired to try out a few (or all of them) yourself!

Lavender

As I previously mentioned, essential oils have many different purposes and lavender meets that expectation. In fact, if you only have one essential oil in your home, you want it to be lavender.

Because of lavender’s use for health and home purposes for thousands of years, it is one of the most versatile essential oil. Lavender has been known to help treat skin rashes, insect bites, burns and acne.

Lavender is also an excellent disinfectant for cuts and scrapes. You can use a few drops of this essential oil in the bathtub for stress relief or add a little to your toilet tissue for a slight fragrance each time you tug!

Lemon

If you want one of the most versatile essential oils, this one is for you! Lemon essential oils are especially great for use in home care. Added to olive oil, you’ll have a beautiful furniture polish.

When added to coarse salt and baking soda, it makes a wonderful scrub for those pesky cutting boards. You can also put a few drops in homemade dish detergent, laundry soap, spray and floor cleaners. Did you know that lemon can prevent dandruff? Why not add this essential oil to your shampoo?!

Peppermint is one of the more popular essential oils as it is widely known to treat a sore throat. However, many people don’t realize that it can also be used to help relieve a stomach ache as well.

All you have to do is massage it into your abdomen and let it take effect. Plus, if you have a pet that is prone to ticks, you’ll want to have this essential oil around as peppermint will make the bugs loosen their grip.

Clove

This essential oil has been used for ages for dental issues. But did you know it’s also great for athlete’s foot and insect bites? It’s true! It has also been known to get rid of bruises faster than they would normally heal. Other uses? Prickly heat rash, fungal infections, and earaches. Oh, my!

Chamomile

You’ve probably heard of this essential oil before. This oil is both soothing and very gentle. Not only will it help calm your nerves, relieve insomnia, and help with depression, but it can also help aid in other ways including eczema, boils, dry skin and bee stings.

Frankincense

Did you know that oil of frankincense was found in King Tutankhamen’s tomb? This essential oil has had great value for quite some time!

Typically, frankincense can be used to treat acne, cuts and scrapes, scars, cysts, insect bites, boils, and warts. Frankincense has also been known to help alleviate stress and can help get rid of migraines fast!

Grapefruit

This essential oil is perfect when you need to lift your spirits! This pleasant scent treats swollen lymph nodes, can be used as a natural deodorant, and also helps with cellulite! Can I get a hallelujah!?

You should know, however, that sometimes using grapefruit essential oils can make your skin photosensitive so make sure to stay out of the sun for a while after application.

If you’re looking to prevent fleas, sprinkle a little on your dog’s bed and belongings. Just be sure you don’t let this oil anywhere near cats.

Oregano

This essential oil is perfect when you’re looking for immune boosting properties. Tea tree oil

This is one super germ destroying essential oil! Tea tree oil is the perfect addition to any homemade or natural cleaner. It also has skin soothing properties which work wonders on rashes or scrapes.

As you can see, essential oils are not just little bottles of oil that smell good. They are incredibly versatile and widely used for homeopathic purposes.

Although this isn’t an essential oil, I would be remiss if I didn’t share this must have essential item for your home…….

Dryer Balls! Now you might be wondering why on earth you need dryer balls and what they have to do with essential oils. Well, they go hand in hand honestly.

Dryer balls are a great energy saver. No need for dryer sheets when you’re using dryer balls. The ones that I have are from Rocky Mountain Oils and I just love them!
