Modest Monday:2026!

Howdy, everyone, It’s been a while. 

Well here we are and another new year is upon us! Can you believe it is now the year 2026?! It seems the older I get, the quicker the years pass by. So let me recap and catch everyone up on things.

I’ve not been as active on here as I used to be. However, the wonderful recipes, homeschool and homesteading posts are all still here and I have produced SOME new content, it just was not at the level it was before for a time with MANY posts weekly.

If I’m being honest with myself, I do not think I will ever get back to that time in life where I felt so bound to constantly produce content. Electronics and social media are nice resources to have, but I also want to enjoy life outside of electronics and social media.  

While taking time off, I did produce some content, but mostly I refocused my life and my priorities. Back when I was putting up constant content, I was bound by Google, and the Bible clearly warns us about letting anything like that take control. I did it with the best intentions, putting out great content to you all, my dear readers. However, it was at the cost often times of the content I wanted to bring you vs what was “trending”. It was a never ending cycle staying ahead of the Google schedule you know, like the retail schedule of having stuff completed months ahead (i.e. Fall stuff in June, Christmas in August, etc. Google analytics stating I had to have a certain word count or images had to be a certain size and so on. It was draining. 

 

Not only was all this going on but I also hire a virtual assistant (VA) that didn’t do me any favors. My site was basically black listed by Google because of all the honest and hard work the VA did. My VA put me between a rock and hard place. It honestly was incredibly depressing. 

So where does that bring me in 2026? Well, my friends and faithful readers, I am excited to tell you that I am in a place now to find a middle ground. Bringing you content that is great, but also bringing you what the Lord lays on my heart and NOT the world. 

What does that mean exactly? How many times have you watched reels on any of the social media platforms? How many of those videos were regurgitated? Those are similar to the trends I was constantly repeating in the blogging world.

In 2026, one of the things I am bringing back was a very popular series that I called “Modest Monday.” I used to bring this to you weekly, but now that I am nearing middle age and swimming in over 40 land, I do not think I will get back to bringing Modesty on a weekly basis. Back in the day, it became a vanity issue for me, always having to have my kids or husband stop everything to take pictures and not living in the moment. Don’t get me wrong. They do NOT mind snapping the pics, but at times, I was more concerned with the content rather than the vacation, if that makes sense.

My plan is to bring a monthly modesty article with a wrap up of some of the outfits I wore through the month. Because I am no longer a younger mom with younger kids in my 30’s, you can see how I style things as a middle-ish aged mom with grown kids. All are now grown except my youngest and he is not far from it.

I will continue with the recipes, but I will keep them on a monthly schedule. My plan is to bring you something weekly, but on a rotation with varying topics. For example, one week modesty and outfits, another week recipes, another week homesteading, homeschooling, Bible study and more.

There is a lot to discuss and I know that God is not finished with me yet, so here I am! 

With that said, here is a wrap up of some of the outfits I wore this past month.

The first Sunday of Advent I wore a funky outfit. A merry shirt and plaid Christmas skirt from Catos, beanie from Target and a leather jacket I got years ago at the Dress Barn. The plaid scarf and gloves are from Scotland. Now my son, he was styling and profiling! He participated in singing with our teen choir so he was in his fancy suit. 

For the second Sunday of Advent I wore a green fall dress I had gotten off Amazon during a sale. I love it! It is so comfortable and does not wrinkle easily. I paired it with a red sweater I got about 7 years ago and a scarf I already had. The hat I got recently at Kohls. The boots are UGG and I have had them about 10 years now. 

For the Christmas Play at Church I wore a Dress Lady dress. I love her dresses so much and her Christmas print did not disappoint. The one thing I love about her dresses is that they are everyday dresses you can live in, work in and have fun in while also looking cute and modest! The hat is from Scotland. The vest is from another Cato sale and it is very fuzzy and warm! My boots are my Duckhead brown boots that are so warm and comfortable! I have had those for many years also. The necklace was made by my oldest when he was little.

We attended  the Christmas party at church and I wore the Scottish Highlander print dress from Super Cute Dresses! It was so cold here during this time so I paired it with a super warm sweater over top and boots I again have had for years! We had an amazing time and my dress was very comfortable!

On the 3rd Sunday of Advent I wore my black beanie again with another plaid dress. This time a spin on the Stuart clan plaid, which is my clan. I paired the dress with a velvet over jacket I had, black velvet bow shoes found on Amazon. It was a very comfortable outfit! My middle son was able to come back from his job out of state and be at our church which was so very nice! 

 

For Christmas Eve candle light services I found the most amazing dress! This again is from Super Cute Dresses and I love, love, love it! It has the nativity as part of the design. I was not sure about wearing such a light colored dress for the holidays, this was a first for me, but it warmed up a lot here that week so it kinda worked and it did look really cute! It also was very comfortable. The sweater is very old from Target and my shoes are retro style from Amazon. Unfortunately at Christmas, my oldest got a 24 hour bug and was not able to attend services with us. 🙁 

The Sunday after Christmas I wore another Super Cute Dress. My hubby picked it out and I will be honest, it was a bit out of my comfort zone when he told me he liked it, but I went ahead and got it since he thought it would look good on me. Honestly, I LOVE it!!! It looks cute, it is very comfortable, can dress up or down, is great for the holidays or a night out. I paired it with the black velvet jacket you see above with another dress and also the same black velvet bow shoes. We went to Walmart after church and I was goofing around for some pictures, as you can see. 🙂 Anyway, I LOVE this dress and how the entire outfit came together. Moral of the story- trust hubby, right?!
