Exploring Creation Field Trip Journal
Who loves field trips? I know I do and so do my kids! If you’re like me and have you wondered what resource to use to track these field trips for homeschool purposes, look no further. Apologia Educational Ministries has a great new resource called Exploring Creation Field Trip Journal! I am so blessed to have been able to review this resource!
If given a choice between seat work and field trip, I will choose the field trip 99.9% of time! LOL! The field trips seem to help connect the dots to learning. Also, they are a great way of learning hands-on skills. We all get tired of a monotonous regime. Incorporating field trips are valuable for any homeschool program. 🙂 For example, when we lived in Maryland and were learning American History, I took my boys on a field trip to the National Mall and the Smithsonian. This field trip helped drive in the information studied in our lessons. We’ve also done this in each state we’ve lived in. When we study that state, we incorporate a field trip to a historic region or even to the state capitol. The field trips also helps to break the monotony of a regular homeschool day and reenergizes my kids.

I’ve been keeping track of our field trips by snapping a plethora of pictures as recorded evidence and to document our time. A few months ago, I had been looking for a resource that would allow an easier and more efficient method to record the specifics of our field trips. Snapping pictures is not a bad way to record our trips, but in the event I get questioned or audited by the state I’m residing, I would like to have documented events in a book. Even a scrapbook would ease my worries, but even those are time-consuming! However, I also enjoy looking back through my scrapbooks to relive the events. I began looking for a resource fairly similar for my boys that I could tie in with their homeschool.
Exploring Creation Field Trip Journal combines the best of both worlds! This resource is an 8-1/2 by 11 inch spiral bound notebook. Let me pause for a brief second. Spiral bound is a love for homeschool parents because it is easier to turn! 🙂 Anyway, you can use this spiral bound notebook to capture all the memories of your field trips!

My family enjoys field trips. We also like to tie in homeschooling on any trip we take for that matter. Recently, we visited Gentry’s Farm located in Tennessee. We had a great time and were able to record what we wanted to remember about that day. I have three children, so I decided to use this journal as a family journal rather than an individual child journal. Prior to the field trip, we prepared to use this journal by reading through the Planning for a Field Trip section. When we returned home, we sat together and discussed the trip and I recorded the children’s thoughts into the journal. I enjoyed this resource so much that I have decided to get each of my boys a journal of their own! I want to ensure my boys are equipped with the art of scrapbooking their memories combined with note booking. Exploring Creation Field Trip Journal allows me to do both simultaneously!
