The broccoli in this Spookydle soup gives it an eerie green color that fits with the Halloween season. The black bow tie pasta gives the appearance of bats floating in the soup. It is a kid-friendly and allergy-friendly soup that the whole family will enjoy.
Instant Pot Spookydle Soup
I am spoiled in the kitchen with the help of my Instant Pot and pressure cookers! With Halloween right around the corner, they help me create fun little recipes the whole family loves. This Instant Pot Chicken Spookydle Soup is something my whole family gobbles up!
Instant Pot Spookydle Soup
Filling your child’s belly with a wholesome meal before they rush out to trick or treat all night can be a chore! You have to lure your kiddos in with an enticing dinner or you can be sure they will push food around without taking a bite. This Instant Pot Halloween soup recipe gives them all the Halloween feel they are going to want.
They will have a blast with the green-colored soup with “black bats” floating in it. And they will gobble it up, fueling their body along the way before they head out to trick or treat the neighborhood. I worked extra hard to make it just all-around more fun! I mean, does cooking get more fun than this? I LOVE adding fun little tidbits to our food. It makes it more enjoyable to eat and create.
I try to get the kids involved in the kitchen. Leading up to Halloween, we spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and baking meals and treats that scream to be tasty.
What is Spookydle Soup?
You won’t be able to find this soup anywhere else because it’s one I made exclusive for my blog. I truly hope your family enjoys it as much as we do!
The primary colors for Halloween are normally orange, black and green. The broccoli gives the soup a green color and the black bow tie pasta adds in the dark (black) colors for a spooky treat.

Why Make This Spookydle Soup In The Instant Pot
- A hands-off approach
- Easy to Cook
- Quick Clean Up
- Doesn’t Heat The Home
- Uses less energy than the stove
Can I Make This Soup On The Stove Top
Absolutely! If you don’t own an Instant Pot you can indeed make this soup on your stovetop in a pot. Just color the pasta as directed. Then when ready to cook, pour all ingredients in but the pasta and bring it to a boil. Pour in the pasta and cook until it is tender. All that’s left is to dish up and serve!
You can also cook this in your slow cooker. Just toss all ingredients in but the pasta and cook low and slow for 4-6 hours on low. Then add the pasta about an hour prior to serving. Or cook pasta on the stove and then when done drain and pour into the slow cooker.
Can I Adjust The Vegetables In The Soup
Of course! Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, especially when it comes to vegetables. Feel free to add or take away the veggies of your choosing.
Here are some more vegetables that could work well in this recipe
- Carrots
- Green Beans
- Corn
- Zucchini or Zoodles
- Peas
- Potatoes
I love using fresh vegetables, but you can always reach for canned or frozen if you don’t have fresh on hand. With the Instant Pot, I have found that frozen vegetables work great for holding up under pressure.
Plus most of the time when vegetables are frozen, they are frozen at their prime. So you still get that incredible flavor and nutrients you are wanting.
Can I Freeze This Halloween Soup Recipe
Absolutely! It does freeze and reheats well. Make sure to use a freezer-friendly container. Remember to leave the room at the top, as it will expand as it freezes. Your soup can store for up to three months in the freezer.
When thawing your soup, I recommend placing in the fridge the night before you plan to eat the soup. Allow it to thaw out and then pour into a pan or even slow cooker and warm it up for another tasty meal. You can also pop it in the microwave for a quick reheat if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands.
This recipe calls for Bow Tie Pasta. If you have never used this type of pasta in a recipe, you are going to love it. Bow Tie Pasta is amazing. I think my kids would request this type of pasta for every meal if they could. Of course, my middle one would want cheese added, too!
I like making it in the Pressure Cooker because it gets just the right tenderness. If you haven’t tried pasta in your Instant Pot yet, you’re truly missing out. It makes life so much easier. Trust me, you do not want crunchy pasta in your Spookydle Soup.
Obviously, this soup is created to be a Halloween treat, but you can also make it any other time of the year. May I suggest you make it alongside my Instant Pot Spooky Lemonade or this fun Skeleton Veggie Tray?
Don’t forget this recipe is also allergy-friendly. So, if you know someone who is following a special diet, this recipe could be a good fit for them.
What Goes Well With Instant Pot Chicken Spookydle Soup?
I’d say just about any side dish will go well with Instant Pot Chicken Spookydle Soup. I think it’s always safe to bake some yummy bread to go with the soup. This Air Fryer Irish Soda Bread is delicious and we love dunking it in our soups.
Before you know it, you’ll be using your Instant Pot and Air Fryer every single night. It has saved me so much time in the kitchen and I’m so grateful. I’ve also been able to whip up some amazing recipes that I otherwise would not be able to create.
